For the first week of practice, a players first day will be helmet/mouthguard only.  The second day will include shoulder pads and the third day will move to full pads practices and the beginning of contact drills.  This same protocol will apply to players that arrive after the first day of practice.  Please arrive early and bring plenty of water.  If your player requires any special attention due to health condition, please see the NFC Gold coach on the first day and give them a brief description of the issue and provide whatever tools necessary for remedy (inhalers, epi pen, etc.).

The Jamboree is our annual key fundraiser to start the year.  Participation is free and as a result we get over 150 teams and close to 10,000 spectators coming into Glen Ellyn through Newton Park.  This is a tremendous task and requires every team's parents to volunteer during appointed time slots on one of the two days.  Please find the time to help wherever you can so that we can execute another successful Jamboree!

Tackle Football Program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Tackle Football
Ages: 7-14

The tackle program participates in the Bill George Youth Football League (www.bgyfl.org). Players learn and develop the fundamentals of tackle football, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership in a supervised, organized and safe environment. This is a travel league that plays teams from surrounding suburbs.

The tackle program begins the last week of July/ first week of August and ends in early November. Teams practice daily in August and three days a week when school starts through the end of the season. Games are played on weekends at Newton Park and in surrounding communities. There are multiple scrimmage games prior to the season, including the annual Golden Eagle Football Jamboree held in mid-August to kick-off the season and raise funds to support the program.

Teams are built based on age, weight restriction, ability and experience. Coaching candidates are encouraged to apply.
